
The town of
SOSUA is centrally located on the north coast of the Dominican Republic, close to the Puerto Plata international airport and the watersport Mecca of Cabarete.
Sosua was founded in 1940 by Jewish refugees from Germany and Austria which came to build a dairy community. Some of the original settlers are still living in Sosua today.
Sosua is a popular relocation and tourist destination. Sosua is separated in two parts by its beautiful Sosua beach, Sosua el Batey the tourism center and Los charamicos the more typical Dominican village. Both families and singles love its beautiful U shaped Sosua bay and its vibrating nightlife, which have made Sosua one of the favorite relocation spots for American, Canadian, German and many other expats from all over the World, who fell in love with this great piece of the Caribbean.
Activities in and around Sosua varay, from horseback riding, sailing tours and deep sea fishing. Sosua has also great grounds for snorkeling and diving and many other great outdoor activities.
Situated conveniently only 20 min drive from the city of Puerto Plata, 10 min to the Puerto Plata international airport and the other way only 10 min to the kiteboarding and surfing Mecca of the Caribbean, Sosua has established large living and business communities of expats from all over the world who enjoy the luxury of having German bakers and butcher, Cuban cigar shops, American schools combined with beautiful beaches and friendly locals.
