
The eastern region of the Dominican Republic, often referred to as
PUNTA CANA actually consists of several Towns and Projects, of which the most important are Punta Cana, Cap Cana, Bavaro, Cabeza de Toro, Cortecito and Uvero Alto. Punta Cana is served by the Punta Cana international airport and the La Romana international airport.
Over more then 30 miles (50 km) of beautiful palm tree seeded white sandy beaches have made Punta Cana one of the most popular and fastest growing Tourist Destinations for Families, Couples and Singles in the Caribbean and it offers the perfect place for relaxation. The nearest largest city is Higuey, approx. 40 min drive away from the town of Bavaro / Cortecito. The Hospiten Clinic is only 15 min drive from Punta Cana and it offers first class medical services.
There are many water-related activities and sports available as windsurfing, snorkeling, deep sea fishing, sailing, catamaran and many others, there are also some new marina projects and more coming soon. There are also a couple of little islands which can be explored by boat on day trips.
If you are not looking for watersports Punta Cana is a very strong Golf area with 5 already operating first class Golf courses and some more are currently under construction. At night there are many great International Cuisine Restaurants in the area, some at the beach offer scenic dining facing the sunset. The nightlife in Punta Cana is very lively, with a wide range of Casinos, nightclubs, small discotheques and Lounge bars that offer the opportunity to interact with the locals and Tourists.
The entire Bavaro - Punta Cana region entered a fast-paced growth in early 2004.
With the establishment and initiation of foreign investment projects such as the roko ki, Donald Trumps Cap Cana, the development of new marinas, resorts, and housing complexes have sprouted everywhere in the area. The area still offers a great potential and it is supposed to increase its growth significantly in the upcoming years.
