LA CONCEPCION DE LA VEGA today has aprox. 180.000 inhabitants and it was founded in 1490, It is simply known as La Vega today and it is located at the Santo Domingo – Santiago highway in the Cibao Valley, approx. 20 min drive to the second largest city and the international airport of Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic.

La Vega is a prosperous Agriculture Community and due to the great diversity of climate Conditions and the Cibaos fertile soils, it is one of the main producers of a large variety of local and “Chinese” vegetables, fruits and flowers. But within the last few years la Vega has also developed other sources of income as tourism and the manufacturing of textile products among other industry.

La Vega is rich in Historical and interesting Nature, it is internationally known for its traditional Carnaval which is celebrated every year on every weekend during the month of February, it is considered to be one of the most colorful and diverse of its kind. Many Tourists and locals travel to la Vega to be part of this colorful purely Caribbean event.
